My Front Seat To a Love Story

I was lucky enough to stumble into a roomateship with one of the kindest, most generous human beings on this green earth, Audrey. She and I were working at COSI together teaching science, and our timing just worked. She needed a place to stay, I needed a roommate. Little did I know I would be setting out on one of the greatest friendships of my life while positioning myself to see love happen, in real time.

I watched Audrey go through heart break and self doubt in the first few months of our cohabitation. It was dreadful to watch. Someone so loving and caring should be loved and cared for. Her best friend Tyler knew this as well.

When Tyler first arrived on our doorstep it wasn’t for a date, it was to be a friend to Audrey. He barely entered our house when he collapsed to the floor to sit with my dog. He didn’t make it past the doormat on this first visit – and this is when I knew they’d be calling this the last first date.

This kind friend of Audrey’s turned into her deeply compassionate boyfriend which then turned into my (and her) hilarious roommate. Tyler spent most nights with us on West 7th Ave, building blanket forts in the living room, taking Brody for walks to ice cream, making dinner and listening to me cry about my very own boy problems. His humility, deep soul and quick wit rounded out our household into one of the happiest places I knew. So when he came home one day before Audrey and whispered with excitement “I have something to show you” while pulling out a diamond ring, I squeeellllled with joy! The thought of these two beautiful humans getting married was every bit what they both deserved.

Tyler planned a day long scavenger hunt involving many of Audrey’s favorite people along the way to walk through their love story and propose to my dear friend. I was lucky enough to be the original decoy as well as amateur videographer on this day in December. I cut this footage down into a video story. Enjoy this front row seat to a love story, it’s a sight to behold.

They have since moved out of my home, been married, got two kittens and bought a house. Their love story continues to unfold and I continue to be an avid fan. They set such a wonderful example of how to love softly and deeply and I am so proud to call them both my friends. Thank you for sharing your love story with me, I cannot wait to see what comes next!
